Many in the West have trouble understanding Vladimir Putin. Part of the problem is that Mr. Putin’s background is murky. Yet, I believe that if one wants to have a window into his worldview, one should look to former KGB head and Soviet Premier Yuri Andropov. Both Andropov and Putin are more similar than many realize and that should worry us.
