Space is a warfighting domain, like the land, sea, air, and cyberspace. It’s time that the world recognize this and act accordingly. Brandon J. Weichert explains on TRT World.
The goal of our space programs should be to elevate the United States over our rivals, not to elevate one sex over the other.
Earlier this year, the Chinese made an announcement that they were moving up the timetable for their lunar program from 2036 to 2029. Dr. Jim Rice argues this is because they want to compete for valuable lunar real estate with America’s reinvigorated lunar program.
The Chinese have a plan for global domination. Space plays a key role in their ambitions. Not only do they hope to become the seat of technological innovation and advancement, but Beijing also dreams of knocking the US from its dominant position in orbit by targeting US satellite constellations and by becoming the premiere power exploiting the natural resources of space.
Nationalist governments in China, Japan, and India have led these countries to make bold moves in the strategic domain of space. A lack of nationalism and cultural pride in the United States is causing America to lose–bigly.
In quantum computing, biotech, and space mining the United States is competing for dominance with China…and the U.S. is losing. Innovation and disruption go hand-in-hand whichever side embraces this first will win the 100-Year Marathon.
China has engaged in a decades-long strategy of encirclement of the United States. They have focused on capturing critical resources in order to hold America hostage. In my recent op-ed at American Greatness, I argue that the United States must mine the moon and asteroids before China does, in order to prevent China’s total dominance of rare earth metals.
In my most recent op-ed at Space News, the leading industry paper on all things related to space policy, I argue that President Trump erred with his tweet last week about the moon.
The president’s recent tweet undercutting his administration’s moon-Mars plan underscores a terrible misconception about space policy on the president’s part. It’s not just about taking a pretty picture on the Red Planet. It’s about taking territory before our rivals can. Therefore, taking the moon first and then pushing on to Mars is the only way to get Americans in space permanently.
The “Deep State” not only threatens the president with a #FakeNews story of Russia “collusion.” They are now seriously undermining American national security all in the name of “resisting” the dreaded “Orange Man” president. Sad!
